La Paz

Hey everyone 🙂

La Paz is one of Bolivia’s capital cities – this and Sucre. It’s the highest capital city in the world at about 4000m above sea level, and sits in a valley in the Andes Mountains.

We ended up spending a bit of time here, mainly because we both got bad colds and had to allow time to recover. Being at altitude takes your energy quicker than if you’re lower down, particularly if you’re from a low altitude.

Cable cars in La Paz are used as public transport for locals who live at the top of the city, or the neighborhood El Alto which is basically another city next door. We did this a few times to get good views of the city. Can’t go wrong at 3 Bolivianos a hit, which is about 50c or 25p.

To be honest, La Paz is a city and that’s that. It’s cool that it’s so high up and you can see snow capped mountains that aren’t much higher than you, but it’s a city. We also changed plans for our trip and took an admin day or two as well. I finally have all my flights booked for the rest of my trip!

We met some great people here too, so it’s cool to hang out with friends over a drink as well as see the city.

Right now, I’m on a bus back to Cusco (13 hour day trip) and Sian is at Lake Titicaca again. We got a cheap flight out of Cusco, so back we go for a day. I don’t like publicly stating our future locations, but everyone who knows us will know where we are headed.

We’re both better now after spending some days in recovery.

Xoxo
