Aguas Calientes & Machu Picchu

We got to Machu Picchu on the 21st and spent a few days chilling in Cusco with new friends. Sian did Rainbow Mountain and loved it. I decided to take a break and not do it – its over 5000m above sea level.

Machu Picchu was incredible learning so much about the Incan ruins. We got there at 6am after hiking up from Aguas Calientes where all we could see was fog until 11am. It cleared however and we ended up spending 8 hours there.

Cusco is a beautiful city and the celebration of Inka Raimi was on this weekend. We extended to stay here for it, as friends from Lima were also coming. The city had parades and loud music in the streets for the whole time we were there. We needed some chill days and we’re glad they were in Cusco as we met more friends.

We’ve had a bit of a mess of our first day in Bolivia, but are still both doing fine with everything. Just a bit tired. Our tour company did great.
